Gary O'Korn - Wide Receivers

Gary O'Korn is in his eleventh season with the Bearcats as the wide receivers coach.  Gary was a member of the staff during three undefeated regular seasons (1998, 2001, 2003) and four district champions (1998, 2001, 2003, 2005.)  He coached six first team all-conference receivers.  As a highlight, Gary lists his enjoyment in playing Pittsburgh area teams in the state playoffs.

O'Korn attended South Fayette High School in the WPIAL.  He was a two year starter on offense as a receiver and on defense at end.  He handled the kicking duties as a senior.  Gary was named team co-mvp as a senior.  He was a second-team all-conference receiver as a junior, and a first-team all-conference receiver and defensive end as a senior.

Gary played three seasons for Marietta College (OH) as a receiver before a knee injury ended his career in his junior year.  Their passing offense during his freshman year ranked #2 in Division III.  Gary also wrestled and played baseball on a Division III championship team.

Gary O'Korn is an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance.  Through the years he has earned numerous company and industry awards.  He moved to Huntingdon in 1994 along with his wife the former Paula Szafaryn of Moon Township in Pittsburgh.  They have three children:  Kalyn Blumling (HAHS 2002), Mark Blumling (HAHS 2007), and John O'Korn (HAHS 2013.)  Mark was a receiver and kicker for the Bearcats from 2004 thru 2006.  John is currently a quarterback on the Bearcat Jr. High team.
