Week 5 – Bald Eagle Area

Week 4 – Tyrone

Week 3 – Mifflin County

Week 2 – Central Mountain

The Bearcats
head for higher ground this
week and travel to Mill
Hall, PA to take on the
Central Mountain Wildcats.
Vinnie Kishbaugh is the new
head coach for Central
Mountain and he lists 35
players on the roster.
The Wildcats started the
season with a 13-23 loss to
the Williamsport
Millionaires. Central
Mountain was oversized by
Williamsport on the line and
they had trouble containing
Devin Miller who rushed for
273 yards in the contest.
Wildcat QB Von Walker led
the way with 18 rushes for
134 yards and he threw for
133 yards. Walker scored on
a 50 yard run and passed 15
yards to Tyler Pavalko for
the other score. He also
threw 3 interceptions in the
game.
Huntingdon will need to put
the Mount Union game in
their rearview mirror, get
healthy, and minimize the
mistakes to compete with the
Wildcats. Missed blocking
assignments and blown
coverages plagued the
Bearcats in their loss to
the Trojans. Look for the
team to step up this week
against Central Mountain.
Kickoff is set for 7pm at
Malinak Stadium.
Week 1 – Mount Union

The Huntingdon
Bearcats kickoff their 2011
campaign this Friday night
by hosting the Mount Union
Trojans. Former head coach
Alan Hartman returns to the
helm to guide the Trojans
this season. Hartman spent
time in the Bearcat Jr. High
system several years ago. He
is assisted by another
former Bearcat Jr. High
coach and standout player,
Rick Bayer. Coach Hartman is
a highly motivational coach
who loves to mix-it-up
offensively. Expect the
Trojans to be primed, pumped
and hungry to attack the
Bearcats.
The Trojans are lead by
fullback Kai House and
tailback Braxton Knable.
They held their own in a
scrimmage last week against
the Central Dragons. Central
lost all their lineman and
star back Lucas Runk, so it
was hard to gage how
dominate Mt. Union was in
the scrimmage. Their
quarterback threw well
against the Dragons. The
Trojans had about 22 kids
dressed and about 5 or 6
players not dressed.
Huntingdon scrimmaged
Hollidaysburg and came away
battered and bruised. New
quarterback Alec Tressler
sustained a possible
concussion, but he passed
his concussion test on
Monday and is expected to be
cleared to start against
Mount Union. A couple
offense linemen were out of
the scrimmage lineup- Nick
Smith and Mackenzie Long.
Smith is expected back for
Friday night's kickoff.
The Bearcats on offense will
feature the running of
tailback Houston Riley and
fullback Taylor Garman. Alec
Tressler will have receivers
Dana Plantt, Ryan Jadlocki
and newcomers Ryan Ritchey
and Ralph Zoerner as targets
in the passing game. On
defense, Huntingdon
linebackers Garman, Nathan
Shope, Zach Romano and Josh
Gutshall will need to fill
the shoes of last season's
leading tacklers Alex Miller and Sean Houck.
The secondary will be
anchored by returning safety
Alec Tressler who grabbed
six interceptions last year,
along with fellow senior
Ryan Jadlocki. The line will
be lead by returning
lettermen Bryant Weller,
Matt Kyper, Nick Smith,
center Nathan Shope, DE/TE
Mitchell Justice and others.
So, lets "pack-the-house"
this Friday night and let
the 2011 Bearcats know how
much you support them! Make
Some NOISE! Go Bearcats!!
